Funny Yet Interesting... How many of you wash your navel/belly button on a regular basis?

Hi guys,

Todays post is very interesting as i don't think many of us would have observed this.... but after reading this i am sure all of us will.. :)

Everyone of us own a belly button... but how many of us clean it on a regular basis??... This is a common thing.. many of us pretty much overlook it ... if you are one of them, don't worry.. it's normal..

Here goes... A team of scientists from the North Carolina State University's Belly Button Biodiversity group recently conducted a study for bacteria that breed in human's belly button. To their dismay, they found that an average human being carries a startling amount of up to 1400 different bacteria in their belly button.... How many are you carrying?? :)

They conducted a study on 95 volunteers. Each volunteer was asked to use a long stem swab and rotate it 3 times in their belly button. These swabs were then cultured to grow the bacteria and when they were big enough, their DNA's were taken and tested for identification. Most of the bacteria found were actually harmless but some were found to be harmful.

1 volunteer was found to be carrying a bacteria that lives only in the ocean. Another was found to be carrying a type that lives in soils in Japan but he had never been to Japan... How did the Japan bacteria get in his belly button I would like to know!!!

Anyway guys, this is pretty much an eye opener for all of us... We got to take personal hygiene one step further by making sure our belly button is constantly cleaned. When uncleaned, it becomes a perfect breeding ground for bacteria because of its natural structure...

Many people have ended up getting belly button sores which results in severe itching, pain and pus due to bacterial infections.

How do we clean it?? Simple, after you have a bath, just take a cotton swab or a ear cotton bud and rotate it in your belly button for 1 minute or so... do this constantly and your belly button will be if not bacteria free at least minimally infested..

P/s:-

1) When cleaning belly button, do it gently as its interior is very sensitive

2) From time to time, dip a cotton bud in some salt water and clean your belly button. The salt helps kill the bacteria and any kind of microorganism in there..

3) Pregnant Women are NOT encouraged to clean their belly button

Well guys, that's all for today... stay cleanER... till our next post.. adios..
